Sean Merinar

Sean Merinar joined the WVU Athletics Department’s Video Productions staff in August, 2010 and is currently in the role of assistant director, athletics video productions. He oversees game day videoboard activities for all programs, including editing, graphics, sponsored content and crowd engagement videos as well as game day footage for select road contests. In addition, Merinar shoots and edits feature pieces for the WVU football team, including a weekly interview with head coach Neal Brown, as well as for other programs in the department.

Merinar was previously a reporter for WVIllustrated.com, UWIRE/Palestra.net- The College Network and The Palestra.com. In this capacity, he provided coverage of the WVU football and basketball teams by attending weekly press conference, conducting interviews and publishing articles across several platforms. His work has appeared on FOX News, ESPNU, ESPN.com and FOXSports.com, among other sites.

A 2007 graduate, cum laude, of the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism, Merinar majored in broadcast news with a minor in communication. While working for WWVU-FM, he was named the station’s Broadcaster of the Year in 2006.

Merinar boasts knowledge of editing programs such as Final Cut Pro, Avid, Adobe Suite programs and Windows Movie Maker as well as Crossfire, Blaze, and Tricaster.

A third-generation Mountaineer,  Merinar grew up on a farm outside of Wheeling, West Virginia. He married Shelby Hicks in June of 2017 and resides in Morgantown.
