Ryan Guthrie

Ryan Guthrie returned to West Virginia in May 2021 for his second stint with WVU’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, where he serves as the electronic media technician senior. Guthrie previously worked at WVU from 2012-15.

In his role, Guthrie oversees all electronics for WVU’s athletic venues and specializes in broadcast interconnects, audio, video boards and the statistical, timing and scoring functions at the venues. He is also the department’s liaison to the national broadcast networks in coordinating their setups, RF frequencies, internet and broadcast cabling. Guthrie and his staff are tasked with electronic, video and audio support for all 18 varsity teams at WVU home events, and maintaining each individual system.
 
Prior to his time at WVU, Guthrie worked for the West Virginia Radio Corporation and MetroNews for 10 years, where her was trained by legendary engineer John McKinney.
 
A native of Harmony Grove, West Virginia, Guthrie attended Westover Junior High School, Morgantown High School and Fairmont State.
 
He and his wife live in Morgantown and have four children.
