BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia University sophomore Carson Kammann shot 10-under-par to lead the Mountaineers to a team championship with a tournament-record 18-under-par at the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

Kammann shot 71-68-67=206 to win the field ahead of senior teammate Jackson Davenport, who finished 9-under-par with rounds of 71-69-67=207. Kammann becomes the fourth different Mountaineer to win a tournament and second individual this season, joining Max Green, who won the Red Bandanna Invitational earlier this season. Kammann becomes the third different WVU golfer to win the Mountaineer Invitational, joining Mark Goetz (twice) and Max Sear.

West Virginia shot a tournament-record 18-under-par (285-285-276=846), besting the previous tournament record of 9-under-par, shot by NC State two years ago. The Mountaineers were the only team under par in the 16-team-field. Marshall (+10) and Western Kentucky (+13) finished second and third, respectively. West Virginia won the Mountaineer Invitational for the fourth time in nine tournaments, joining the 2020, 2019 and 2018 teams.

Six West Virginia golfers finished in the top 10. After Kammann and Davenport, Green finished tied for fourth place at 7-under-par (66-72-71=209), while Pierce Grieve (72-70-71=213) and Todd Duncan (71-71-71=213) tied for sixth place at 3-under-par. Kaleb Wilson tied for 10th place at 1-over-par with rounds of 75-76-66=217. Wilson's 66 was the low score for the field in round three on Tuesday.

Harrison Thompson tied for 12th place at 2-over-par with rounds of 74-73-71=218, Trent Tipton tied for 21st place at 4-over-par with rounds of 78-74-68=220 and Will Stakel tied for 25th place at 4-over-par with rounds of 76-75-70=221. Oli Ménard tied for 37th place with rounds of 72-76-76=224 (+8), while Westy McCabe tied for 58th place with rounds of 84-78-68=230 (+14).

"We had a great performance from several guys this week, especially in today's final round," coach Sean Covich said. "I'm so happy for them all to experience a win at home. When you only get one event at home each season, you have to take advantage and we did."

The Mountaineers will be back in action on Monday at the Big 12 Golf Championship in Trinity, Texas. Teams will play 72 holes over three days.
