Trio of Mountaineers Land on All-Time List at Sykes and Sabock Challenge

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The West Virginia University track and field team competed at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge on Saturday at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track in University Park, Pennsylvania.

The squad was led by redshirt senior Sarah Tait who slated herself as third on the all-time list in the women's mile with a 4:35.55, second-place finish in her collegiate debut of the event. Redshirt sophomore Emily Bryce followed behind with a personal-best time of 4:50.32 in fifth place.

Redshirt junior Cassandra Williamson set a personal best in the women's 800 meters, securing her second-place spot in WVU's history with a time of 2:05.83 and a second-place finish. Freshman Eva Rinker finished sixth in her debut of the event, with a 2:15.54 time.

The trio was rounded out by freshman Kishay Rowe who finished fourth in the women's 500 meters with a 1:13.54 finish, placing her third on the all-time list.

Freshman Izayah Everett also set a personal best in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.82.

In the field, the team was led by redshirt freshman Annishka McDonald who finished first in the women's high jump at the 1.73-meter mark.

Freshman Sophia Ludwig finished sixth in the triple jump, leaping for 11.78 meters.

"The day was productive for our team," said WVU coach Sean Cleary. "We have athletes moving in the right direction as we embark on the midseason meets. We need to keep this momentum moving forward as we prepare for the end of our season."

Next up, West Virginia will send split squads on Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10 to the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W. Va. and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts.
