Mountaineers Finish Strong at RMU Colonial Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team competed in the RMU Colonial Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 16. The race was held at the Youthtowne Fields in Clinton, Pennsylvania.

West Virginia finished third overall, with a team score of 83.

"We had a lot of personal bests today, which should be a good sign for the remainder of the season," WVU coach Sean Cleary said.

Freshman Lexi Lamb finished the race first overall with a time of 17:27.40. Freshman Audrey Hall followed behind with the silver medal finish, posting a time of 17:31.15.

"What a wonderful debut for Lexi and Audrey," Cleary added. "To come out and handle themselves the way they did for their first collegiate race was a very impressive feat."

Other scoring runners include redshirt sophomore Zara Zervos, redshirt sophomore Aubrie Custer, and freshman Eva Rinker.

West Virginia returns to the grass on Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Lock Haven Invitational in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. The race will be held at the West Branch Cross Country Course and is slated for 11 a.m.
