MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Two days after claiming a 31-7 victory over Clarion, the No. 24 West Virginia University wrestling team continued its success by winning the Shorty Hitchcock Classic title on Saturday.
Four Mountaineers won individual championships to seal the top spot for WVU, including redshirt senior
Michael Wolfgram (HWT), seniors
Caleb Dowling (157) and
Peyton Hall (165), and redshirt freshman
Brody Conley (174).
Eight other members of the squad secured a spot in the top six of their respective weight classes to end the tournament as well. Junior
Tristan Kemp (HWT), redshirt sophomore
Jace Schafer (125) and redshirt freshman
Ian Bush (184) earned third, redshirt freshman
Mason Mills (125) and freshman
Erick Brothers took fourth, senior
Sam Hillegas (141) and redshirt junior
Dennis Robin sealed fifth, and junior
Michael Dolan finished sixth to complete the group.
Additionally, redshirt sophomore
Trey Johnson (165) placed fourth and redshirt freshman
Leonardo Muzika (HWT) placed sixth competing unattached.
West Virginia comes back home to the WVU Coliseum for a battle with No. 20 Oklahoma on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. ET.
